- Man City progressed to the quarterfinal of the Champions League after thrashing Schalke 7-0 to win 10-2 on aggregate

- The EPL leaders have now netted 61 times since the turn of the year

Pep Guardiola has warned Champions League quarter finalists to beware of Manchester City after the Etihad dwellers thrashed Schalke 7-0 to seal a spot in the last eight.

According to Daily Mail, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss is also expecting more top class performances in the latter round of the Champions League, with more expected to come from his players after scoring 61 times since the start of 2018.

“When I said we are a teenage team in this competition, I didn't say we are not going to fight," Guardiola said.

“Teenagers have patience, desire, they are not scared. We are trying to achieve for the second time in our history a semi-final of the Champions League.

“It is why when the people say you have to win, you have to win, when you are out in the quarter-finals, it is a disaster, it is not fair.

“Real Madrid is out and Atletico Madrid is out and PSG is out and it is unfair, this competition, because it is incredibly tough.

“There are incredible teams so when we are through the group stages, I am happy. It is so nice to be in the quarters for the third time in our history,” he stressed.

Speaking further, Guardiola revealed he would prefer former club Bayern Munich to send Liverpool packing from the Champions League on Wednesday night, even as he is demanding more from his wingers in the next round.

He further explained that Man City will be kicked out of the Champions League in the next round if they struggle in the first leg tie.

Leroy was not aggressive enough in the first 20 minutes,” Guardiola added.

“I like when he runs and goes, lose the ball, doesn't matter.

“It is the same with Raheem Sterling. The first half in the last game was not good. The second was much better. Today was better. But they are young.

“We cannot forget these games. We played 2-1 down with one man down, in normal circumstances you are out, you come here with 3-1 and 4-1. We survived this time.

“Juventus, this guy Cristiano Ronaldo, goes there to win the Champions League with Juventus.

“He has all the pressure on his shoulders, he scores three against Atletico and go through, that is the type of guy you face to achieve the next stages.

“I want Bayern, sorry for the English people I am big fan of this club and I love Munich and all the people, I would like Bayern to go through but it will not be easy it is so demanding a game for both,” Guardiola submitted.

Earlier, reported that Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick as Juventus sent Atletico Madrid packing from the Champions League with a 3-0 defeat on Tuesday, March 12.

The Bianconeri made their intentions known right from the fourth minute as Ronaldo contested for the ball with Jan Oblak which fell kindly to Giorgio Chiellini who earlier flicked a header.

The Italian defender slammed home the ball as fans at the Allianz Stadium in Turin went into wild celebrations. ( -> We have updated to serve you better.
