Emir of Kano speaks on inconclusive elections

- The Emir of Kano has asked the people of the state and Nigerians to remain calm over inconclusive elections

- The emir advised the people to allow INEC carry out its duty as it is the commission with the power to organise elections and declare result

- Emir Sanusi also said that inconclusive polls means that elections would be carried out again in affected voting units

The Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammad Sanusi II, has called on the people of the state and Nigerians at large to be calm and allow the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to properly finish its assignment, concerning the inconclusive gubernatorial polls in some states.

Sanusi said INEC had already announced that the election held in Kano on Saturday, March 9, was inconclusive because there are still some polling units where the exercise would be re-conducted and it was after that the winner would be declared.

He said: “We remind the public that INEC has already disclosed all the votes that were got by candidates of each political parties. Those votes are intact and nobody has been denied his votes.

“In subsequent re-run, each candidate will have the votes that are given to him, added to what he has acquired. We should therefore, give cooperation to all security agencies for peace to continue reigning in Kano."

He also thanked the state's commissioner of police, Muhammad Wakili, and other heads of security agencies for their committed efforts to protect lives and property during the elections.
