Manchester United rated best team in Europe in terms of shots on target

Manchester United have been at their best form this season since the appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as caretaker manager.

United lost their first Premier League match under the Norwegian boss following a 2-1 defeat at the hands of their rivals Arsenal.

Following Solskjaer's remarkable 13-match run in the league, some new facts have emerged in terms of their attacking abilities.

According to CIES Football Weekly, United have the highest shot on target percentages across the top five leagues in Europe including - England, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

The figures derived from the research also include 25 other domestic championships , which were calculated from July 1, 2018 to March 6, 2019.

The resulting data revealed that United led the way with 186 shots on target from 383 efforts on goal - giving them a 48.6 per cent total for shots on target.

The English side are marginally better than Barcelona who have 48.3 per cent. The Spanish champions have had 190 shots on target from 393 on goal.

By accident, both United and Barca have an average shot distance of 19.5 yards.

Bundesliga side Dortmund are third with 46.3 per cent while La Liga outfit Girona are fourth (45.8 per cent).

Liverpool round up the top five with 45.6 per cent. The Anfield giants have had 185 shots on target from their 406 efforts.

Also in the top 10 are German club Hertha Berlin (45.1 per cent), Paris Saint-Germain (45 per cent), Bayer Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt (43.7 per cent) as well as Bayern Munich (43 per cent).

Tottenham, Manchester City and Arsenal are in 11th, 12th and 19th position with 42.8 42.7, 42.1 per cent respectively.

Meanwhile, had earlier reported that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is confident Manchester United still stand a chance of finishing among the top four in the Premier League.
