Winner of Kano guber poll to be declared on Tuesday, March 12 - REC

- The winner of the Kano governorship election will be declared on Tuesday, March 12

- The results according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will be generated by data sources

- This is coming after INEC declared the poll in the state as inconclusive

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)'s Kano Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor Riskuwa Arabu Shehu, has revealed that the winner of the governorship poll in the state will be announced on Tuesday, March 12, Daily Trust reports.

The REC revealed that the results of 10 wards that were already collated in Nassarawa local government will be regenerated through INEC's primary and secondary data source in order to collate the figures.

Assuring that INEC will conclude the exercise on Tuesday and declare the winner of the poll, Shehu said: “INEC will ensure implementation of electoral act in resolving the issue. The commission will be fair to everybody.”

He urged politician in the state to work with the electoral body in decisive effort to strengthen Nigeria's democracy.

Meanwhile, reported that INEC had declared the results of Kano governorship elections are intact and safe.

Resident Electoral Commissioner in Kano, Professor Ristuwa Arabu Shehu, gave the assurance while briefing journalists on the update on the controversy surrounding delay in the collation of the results. R

According to him, the commission will re-generate the results from its primary and secondary database and verify its authenticity with the party agents. Arabi-Shehu had emphasised his assurances of bringing out the final results from Nassarawa local government to declare the winner of the elections.
