Remi Sonaiya demands proper investigation into election malpractices

- Remi Sonaiya has called for an investigation into the irregularities that trailed the 2019 elections

- According to her, people should be held accountable for thwarting efforts at building democracy

The presidential candidate of KOWA party in 2015, Remi Sonaiya, on Tuesday, March 12, called for an investigation of roles played by different bodies, including the military, during the 2019 elections.

Sonaiya made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos while reacting to the March 9 governorship and state Assembly polls.

According to her, people should be held accountable for their actions during the entire election.

She said: “All I am able to think of now is we must conduct a thorough investigation of the entire election.

“What role has been played by different bodies, especially the military and individuals to bring about voter apathy and all the violence recorded. People should be held accountable for thwarting our efforts at building democracy.”

Legit.ng had previously reported that Sonaiya said she would contest again in the 2019 presidential election.

Sonaiya stated that even though four other people had indicated interest in the party’s presidential ticket, she was hopeful she would make it in the primary.

However, she lost the KOWA presidential ticket during the party's special national convention presidential primary in Abuja on Saturday, September 29.
