Jordi Alba has signed a new long-term deal at Barcelona until the summer of 2024 on Monday, March 11, to extend his stay at Nou Camp.
A statement from the club’s official website confirmed the Spanish defender has 18 months remaining in his current deal and has provided ten assists this campaign.
But after Monday’s extension, the Spaniard will remain at the Blaugrana until he’s 35 and his release clause has been increased from €150m to €500m.
Alba has featured in more than 250 games for Barcelona since arriving in 2012 from Valencia with his first renewal signed in 2015.
The pair of Juventus and Man United were said to be among the clubs interested in a possible move for the Spain international, who now looks set to retire at the Camp Nou.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Barcelona have reached an agreement with defender Jordi Alba for his contract to be renewed for the next five years.
Barcelona confirmed this latest development on their official website adding that the left full back will have a buy out clause of 500m euros.
Jordi Alba is currently playing his seventh season at Barcelona in which his attacking style of football from the defense has been of great help to Lionel Messi.
Since Jordi Alba and Lionel Messi started playing together at Barcelona, the Spaniard has provided 20 assists for the Argentina international.
