Ortom leads APC's Jime by over 50,000 votes in 19 of 23 LGs in Benue

Governor Samuel Ortom of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is edging towards victory with 317,730 votes from the results of the governorship polls in 19 local government areas of Benue.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the results were announced by different Collation Officers for the local government areas in Makurdi.

The INEC records showed that Emmanuel Jime of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has polled 264,505 votes, lagging behind with 53,225 votes.

Results from Vandeikya, Buruku, Kwande and Konshisha local governments are yet to be declared.

Recall that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) operatives intercepted bags of cash meant for vote-buying at North Bank Area, Makurdi, Benue state.

Legit.ng had reported that the anti-graft agency said in an attempt to arrest the culprits, some thugs attacked the agency's operatives and vandalised the bus used for patrol.

the bags of cash reportedly belonged to the governorship candidate of the APC in Benue state, Emmanuel Jime.

Meanwhile, in another report, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue raised the alarm over an alleged plan to arrest key PDP members in the state.

The governor's allegation was contained in a statement by his chief press secretary, Terver Akase, on Wednesday, March 6.

The Benue governor who accused the federal government and the APC of being behind the plot, said those marked for arrest are to be falsely accused of gun running.
