Kwara people finally set free from political bondage - Governor-elect

- Kwara governor-elect, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has dedicated his victory to the people of the state

- Abdulrazaq said with his victory, people of the state had broken the yoke of political subjugation

- According to him, party members, leaders at the local, state and national levels did a good job for their sterling efforts and contributions

Kwara governor-elect, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of the APC, on Sunday, March 10, declared that the people of the state have been free from bondage and socioeconomic stagnation.

Daily Trust reports that Abdulrazaq dedicated his victory to the glory of God and to all the people of the state.

He said: "We give Almighty God all the glory. We dedicate this victory to the people of Kwara state, home and abroad, who stood resolutely to see through the democratic revolution that started many years ago.

“Much as this historic event calls for celebrations, we instead implore our people to reflect on the challenges ahead and the need to come together. This victory belongs to all Kwarans.

“We are faced with the challenge of evolving a Kwara that works for all, away from the abysmal state of affairs now. We promise to diligently implement our manifesto for the good of our people.”

He saluted all the heroes of the struggle, including all those who paid the supreme sacrifice and prayed their souls rest in perfect peace.

He commended party members, leaders at the local, state and national levels for their sterling efforts and contributions to this victory.

Abdulrazak also thanked traditional rulers for their fatherly roles and commended the security agencies, electoral officers and other stakeholders who performed their duties creditably.

"We also thank the media for their professionalism. Finally, we are grateful to everyone who supported the Otoge movement," he said.

Meanwhile, the governorship candidate of the PDP in the state, Razak Atunwa, has congratulated AbdulRazaq.

Atunwa, in a statement, thanked God for His blessings, the PDP and all supporters who stood by him in just concluded elections.

"Your commitment and dedication is heart-warming. You all gave your best. We are all winners in the process of democracy. Whilst the Party considers its next line of action, and without prejudice to any legal process, I offer my congratulations to AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

“I pray that Kwara will continue to be a state of harmony and witness further development in the next administration. My utmost gratitude goes to Almighty God for His blessings," he added.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported the Senate president, Bukola Saraki, congratulated APC candidate, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, after he was declared the winner of the governorship election held in Kwara state.

Saraki, a former governor of Kwara, thanked the people of the state for their support in the just concluded general election.

The senator representing Kwara Central conceded defeat by extending a congratulating message to winners across levels.
