President Buhari addresses Nigerians 3 days to governorship elections (video)

- President Buhari has assured that security agencies will be on hand to protect voters during the March 9 polls

- Buhari appealed to young people not to allow themselves be used to cause violence

Ahead of the governorship and state House of Assembly elections, President Muhammadu Buhari has addressed Nigerians calling for a peaceful process.

In the address on Wednesday, March 6, the president noted that the coming elections were very important considering the governors and state lawmakers were closer to the people.

President Buhari extended condolences to those who lost their lives or where injured due to criminal activities in the presidential election.

He urged Nigerians to troop out to elect their governors and members of state House of Assembly.

The president also urged Nigerians to avoid ballot box snatching or any activities that are considered illegal during the election.

He said: “Security agencies will be on hand to protect voters and ensure the process is not undermined in any way.”

President Buhari appealed to young people not to allow themselves be used to cause violence or disturb the peace of the nation.

Meanwhile, barely three days to the 2019 gubernatorial elections across Nigeria, no fewer than nine candidates of various political parties in Adamawa state have withdrawn from the poll and supported the PDP's flag bearer, Ahmad Umar Fintiri.

The candidates stated that they believed that Fintiri would address issues like infrastructural decay, institutions failure and total collapse of education sector.

Reports claimed that an elated Fintiri appreciated the candidates for their gesture, assuring them of an inclusive government if elected.
