- Tinubu warned the NURTW leaders to desist from intimidating voters during election
- The APC leader also asked the union leaders not to interfere with the voting process
The national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has warned leaders of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) against intimidating voters during the Saturday, March 9 election.
Tinubu, according to his aide, met with the leadership of the NURTW, Lagos state chapter on Tuesday, March 5 and told them to warn their members against attacking non-indigenes during the election.
His warning came after the Saturday, February 23 presidential and National Assembly election, where Igbo residents in Lagos where allegedly attacked and harassed by thugs and members of the NURTW.
According the aide, Tinubu said he would not condone similar attacks on non-indigenes during the governorship and State House of Assembly elections.
He said indigenes and non-indigenes are free to vote for any political party or candidates of their choice without threats of harassment and intimidations from anyone in the state.
The former Lagos governor also warned the NURTW leaders to ensure that none of their members in their domain engaged in incidents of ballot snatching or violence in any form.
He asked them not to interfere in anyway with the voting process, warning that anyone caught causing mayhem will have himself to blame.
