- APC might not field a governorship candidate in Enugu following the removal of Senator Ayogu Eze from the gubernatorial race in the state
- Eze was on Tuesday, February 5, sacked as a governorship candidate of the APC in the state
- The decision was reached by a Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice I Ekwo
Barely four days to the forthcoming gubernatorial election, emerging reports have claimed that the All Progressives Congress does not have a governorship candidate in Enugu state.
Reports by The Nation claimed that a final list for the poll published on the website of the Independent National Electoral Commission allegedly indicated that the party in the state has no candidate.
The list signed by Rose Oriaran-Anthony, secretary of the INEC, said it was in obedience to court order as the party was yet to submit a fresh name after Ayogu was sacked.
In the 330-page final list of candidates, Enugu occupied pages 100 to 111, with the APC having 'none' in provision for candidate.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Senator Ayogu Eze of the APC has been sacked as the gubernatorial candidate in Enugu by a Federal High Court in Abuja.
The judgement was delivered by Justice I Ekwo on Tuesday, February 5. Ekwo also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize George Ogara as the candidate.
Ogara chided APC's National Working Committee (NWC) that presided over the primary poll in the state. Speaking to newsmen in Abuja, he said: “We thank God that justice has come at last. I urge our party members to remain united as we go for victory in the forthcoming election.”
