Mother of Super Eagles winger Samuel Kalu has finally been released by the abductors who kidnapped her for almost a week.

The mother of Samuel known as Mrs Juliet was kidnapped in her home town of Umuamacha Umueze in Abia state.

Initially, the abductors were said to have demanded the sum of N3 million ransom for Samuel Kalu's mother to be released.

But after getting the agreed money, they changed their decision thereby asking for another N15m before they would free Samuel Kalu's mother.

However, she gained her freedom hours later although, it cannot be confirmed if an additional payment was made to the kidnappers.

Abia state police spokesman Godfrey Ogbona was reported to have confirmed the release of Samuel Kalu's mother.

“She was released around midnight (2300 GMT) of Monday and she has been reunited with her people,” he said according to report on AS.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Samuel Kalu's mother Mrs Julliet Ozuruonye Kalu was kidnapped by suspected gunmen and taken to an unknown destination.

According to report, the Super Eagles winger's mother was driving along the Okpulu Umuobo in the past week when the incident occurred.

The unidentified gunmen blocked her vehicle, then ordered the children out of the car, before taking the player’s mother away.
