- Kola Balogun, the candidate of the PDP, had on Saturday, February 23, defeated Ajimobi, to win Oyo South senatorial election

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo state has revealed why the incumbent governor of the state, Abiola Ajimobi, failed to win Oyo south senatorial election on Saturday, February 23.
Legit.ng regional reporter in Oyo, Imran Khalid, reports that the APC leader, who spoke under the condition of anonymity, said that Ajimobi's arrogance and reckless speeches were mainly responsible for the defeat he suffered from the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kola Balogun.
The APC's chieftain said the party would have won the three senatorial seats at the upper chamber of the National Assembly, adding that the governor orchestrated his own defeat by arrogance.
The source said that out of three senatorial districts in Oyo state, APC won Oyo North and Central senatorial districts while the other one was won by the PDP, adding that the party also won nine House of Representatives' seats out fourteen in the state.
He said Ajimobi's attitude and dictatorial tendencies in the state led to the break away of the group loyal to late Lam Adesina to join African Democratic Congress (ADC), adding that his omniscient and omnipotent attitude in the party and state had adversely affected the party.
On Ajimobi's administration, he described Ajimobi as brilliant performer and administrator per excellence whose assumption of office as the governor has changed the outlook of the state in all ramifications, adding that he was a square peg in a square hole when it comes to administration and practice of modern politics.
On the forthcoming governorship and state House of Assembly elections, the party chieftain said the damage had been done to the party following the dictatorial tendencies of the governor.
To rescue the party and ensure it wins the forthcoming governorship election, those that matter in the state and at national level had swung into action to ensure the party wins.

It was reported that the governor whose tenure is coming to an end, lost to Kola Balogun of the PDP.
