Election 2019: No plan to remove Sultan of Sokoto - APC

- The APC in Sokoto state has denied planning to dethrone the Sultan of Sokoto

- The party’s chairman, Isa Sadiq Acida, said the rumour is being sponsored by an opposition party

- According to him the Sultan remains the father of all Muslims and an embodiment of its cultural and religious values

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto state has debunked insinuations that it plans to dethrone the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, after winning the governorship election.

The party’s chairman, Isa Sadiq Acida, disclosed this to journalists in Sokoto on Monday, March 4.

He said the false claim is being sponsored by an opposition party as part of propaganda to tarnish the image of innocent persons linked to such claims.

His words: “We condemn this ungodly campaign and dissociate ourselves from such claims. People should disregard this ranting of political dead-bodies who are due for burial next Saturday, at the political cemetery.

“The APC wishes to restate its respect for our traditional institutions, particularly the Sultanate council, and will ensure it continues to serve as a rallying point for all shades of political opinions.

“The Sultan remains the father of all Muslims and an embodiment of our cultural and religious values.”

Meanwhile, the national president of Miyetti Allah Association of Nigeria, Alhaji Muhammed Kiruwa Ardon-Zuru, has warned the Fulani across the country, particularly those who were attacked in their respective communities by unknown assailants, against reprisal attacks.

He said the main agenda of those behind the killings is to ensure the country is engulfed in crisis, as other tribes in the country avenge the death of their kinsmen.

Ardo-Zuru stated this in Birnin-Kebbi, the Kebbi state capital, while addressing journalists on the recent crisis in some parts of the country.
