- Yusuf insisted that he’ll continue with his campaign activities till Thursday night, March 7
- The PDP also accused the Kano chapter of the APC of being behind the matter
The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano, Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf, says his candidacy is in no way affected by the recent court ruling nullifying it, as the case is against the party.
Yusuf made the assertion in a statement released by his spokesman, Malam Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Daily Trust reports.

Legit.ng gathers that the candidate insisted that he’ll continue with his campaign activities till Thursday night, March 7, which is the deadline for campaigns.
The statement read: “Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf remains the candidate of the People Democratic Party for the 2019 coming election on Saturday 9th of March, 2019.
“The case has nothing to do with the flag-bearer of the party, it is an internal issue with one of the aspirants and the party has taken the next step.”
The PDP also accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state of being behind the matter.
It said: “We are surprised that the news of the judgement came from the mouthpiece of Kano state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, via social media before the court ruling was delivered.
“It is a fact that the ruling party (APC) is behind the scene on this case. They are determined to frustrate the opposition ahead of Saturday’s polls for the fear of the unknown.”
It urged its members and supporters to stay calm and keep up with campaigning so as to ensure victory at the polls.

Recall that Legit.ng previously reported that a Federal High Court sitting in Kano dismissed the PDP’s governorship candidacy for not conducting primaries.
Justice Ambrose Lewis ruled that the purported nomination of Abba Kabir Yusuf as governorship candidate of the PDP was void.
Counsel to the plantiff, Kabiru Usman, declared that the party would have to provide another governorship candidate before the coming polls.
