I would have been surprised if Atiku had won - Falana

- Femi Falana said he would have been surprised if Atiku Abubakar had defeated President Buhari in the February 23 poll

- Falana said the PDP presidential candidate's chances of winning against Buhari in court are very slim

- The human rights lawyer added that Atiku is yet to defend a statement credited to him in which he promised to enrich his friends if elected

As the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)'s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, heads to court to challenge the result of the presidential poll, human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, has said his chances of winning in court are very slim.

Falana, during a programme on Channels TV, said he would have been surprised if the PDP presidential candidate had won the election.

He said: “I would have been surprised if Atiku had won. Atiku’s emergence has negative implications. He will have to defend many negative comments by Obasanjo.

“He is under investigation by the United States Government. He never came out to deny the representation that he will enrich his friends. Atiku was going to sell the NNPC to his friends."

When asked if he thinks Atiku could win against President Buhari in court, Falana said: “Atiku’s chances in court are very tough.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Atiku set up a legal team that will challenge the victory of the incumbent President Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in court.

The inauguration of his legal team, headed by Dr Livy Uzoukwu (SAN), on Saturday, was announced by his media aide Paul Ibe through a statement.

Atiku said he is encouraged by the presence of fearless men and women of the Bench.
