The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom has staged a victory rally to celebrate the declaration of President Muhammadu Buhari, as the winner of Saturday, February 23 presidential election.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that thousands of APC supporters, led by the governorship candidate in the state, Nsima Ekere, trekked from his residence in Ewet Housing Estate to the venue of the rally in Uyo, dancing over the party’s victory.
Legit.ng gathers that Ekere said the victory had given the party the opportunity to deliver its mandate to the people.
He said that with the victory, President Buhari would launch Nigeria to the next level of achievements in the next four years.
Ekere said that what the people did was to come to thank God for the president’s victory in the election.
The governorship candidate added that the people had come to thank God Almighty for his benevolence in spite of the challenges the party faced during the poll.
He said: “We woke up today to hear the best news of the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari and the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.
“What Nigerians said is that Mr President, you have done well, thank you.
“Nigerians have said, Mr President thank you for your transparency and good governance. We are here to say thank you God for giving our President the victory.
“Let me thank the over 15 million Nigerians who voted for Mr President."
In the same vein, a non-governmental organisation, called the ‘I Stand with Buhari Movement’ (ISWBM), on Wednesday, February 27, organised a rally on the major streets of Awka, Anambra, to celebrate President Buhari’s victory in the election.
The group, which carried a huge banner, marched round the metropolis, dancing jubilantly and chanting victory songs.
Addressing newsmen, Dr Chekwube Ijioma, the coordinator of the group in the state, said they were also using the opportunity to appreciate Nigerians for their massive support for Buhari.
Ijioma said that the group was hopeful that things would get better for all Nigerians, adding that every part of the country, including the southeast would get a better deal.
He said that the victory had set the country on the path of sustainable development.
Ijioma said: ”Today we are celebrating the re-election of Buhari and we are very happy. We the people of South-East and the people of the entire southern Nigeria congratulate him.”
He urged the president to see his victory as an opportunity to prove those that misunderstood him wrong.
Ijioma said: ”We expect more dividend of democracy, more infrastructure and greater inclusiveness.
”The president promised to carry everybody along and now that we are in the next level, it will only get better."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) presented the certificate of return to President Muhammadu Buhari and his running mate, Yemi Osinbajo, following the victory of the APC in the February 23 presidential election.
Speaking before jubilant supporters during the certificate presentation at the International conference centre in Abuja on Wednesday, February 27, the president thanked Nigerians for their unwavering support.
