Chelsea on Wednesday night, February 27, redeemed themselves in the Premier League beating visiting rivals Tottenham 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues went into this game after been sent out of the FA Cup and also losing the Carabao Cup final encounter against Manchester City on penalties at the Wembley stadium.

Goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga who refused to be subbed against Manchester City in the EFL Cup final suffered the consequence of what he did as he was benched by Sarri against Spurs.

Chelsea had the first chance to score in the sixth minute when Kante located Gonzalo Higuain with a superb pass, but the Argentine was unable to find the back of the net as he struck the post.

Tottenham striker Harry Kane also had a chance that could have given his side the lead at Stamford Bridge, but his shot was blocked by David Luiz.

The first half however ended with the two teams going into the dressing room without scoring.

Chelsea netted their first goal in the 57th minute through Pedro who benefited from a wonderful assist by Cesar Azpilicueta in which Spurs' goalie Hugo Lloris was beaten.

Spurs were trying to get the equalizer towards the end of the match before defender Kieran Tripper scored an own goal in the 84th minute which gave Chelsea the three points.

Chelsea are now occupying sixth position on the Premier League standings with 53 points after 27 games played this season.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Maurizio Sarri who is the handler of Chelsea explained that the club will cope with the two-window transfer ban slapped on them by FIFA for breaching transfer rules.

The west London club is said to have signed 29 players under the age of 18 contrary to FIFA's regulations.
