Akeredolu congratulates Buhari, says victory belongs to Nigerians

- Ondo state governor Rotimi Akeredolu has congratulated President Buhari on his election victory

- Akeredolu said the victory signified the acceptability of his leadership by the majority of Nigerian citizens

- Also, Edo deputy governor, Philip Shaibu, said the president’s re-election would further strengthen the integrity of the country in international circles

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his re-election as the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The governor in a statement by his chief press secretary, Segun Ajiboye, said Buhari’s victory in the keenly contested presidential election signified the acceptability of his leadership by the majority of Nigerian citizens, The Nation reports.

Going further, Akeredolu said the victory belongs to all Nigerians irrespective of their ethnic and religious beliefs.

Also, Edo deputy governor, Philip Shaibu, said Buhari’s re-election would further strengthen the integrity of the country in international circles.

Shaibu stated this in a congratulatory message to the president, who was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Saturday’s presidential election.

Buhari was declared winner by INEC, defeating his closest rival Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He said that the president won his re-election bid due to his integrity which was known worldwide and which no one could fault.

He said: “Nigeria is coming back to be a nation of integrity where our leaders can look at other leaders eye ball to eye ball and say I am not corrupt.

“People can now see us as men of integrity when we travel out of the country, because we have a leader that is globally known as a man of integrity.

“This country is going to move forward economically with assurance of needed infrastructure completion of ongoing projects.’’

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) congratulated President Buhari over his victory, following his declaration as winner of the 2019 presidential election by the INEC.

The public relations officer of the association, Bestman Okereafor, gave the congratulatory message in a statement in Enugu.
