- Adebayo Shittu has reacted to the defeat suffered by Oyo state governor, Abiola Ajimobi, on Saturday, February 23
- Kola Balogun of the PDP defeated Ajimobi in the Oyo South senatorial district election
- In reaction, Shittu said he was vindicated by the defeat suffered by the incumbent governor of the state
The minister of communication, Adebayo Shittu, has declared that the All Peoples Congress (APC) has no governorship candidate in Oyo state ahead of Saturday, March 9 governorship and House of Assembly elections.
Legit.ng regional reporter in Oyo state, Newman Babson, reports that Shittu was reacting to the presidential and National Assembly elections where the APC performed brilliantly in the Oke- Ogun zone of Oyo state.
He said he was vindicated by the defeat suffered by the incumbent governor of the state, Abiola Ajimobi, when he failed to win his senatorial election.
"I was vindicated when I recently said that Ajimobi would be disgraced by the people of the state because of his misgovernance of the state and arrogance," he said
Shittu, who was one of the governorship aspirants, alleged that Chief Adebayo Adelabu who is being fielded for the gubernatorial race was the puppet of the incumbent governor Ajimobi who was floored by Kola Balogun of PDP during the Saturday, February 23 election.
He said that he would not vote for Adelabu, adding that he would direct his supporters to do likewise because of his prejudice for Ajimobi.
It would be recalled that both Ajimobi and Shittu are arch political adversaries despite being chieftains of APC.
Shittu observed that Ajimobi is an arrogant governor, adding that his defeat in the National Assembly election would be replicated in the governorship race.
He was full of praises for the Saki and Oke Ogun voters who voted impressively for President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC during the last election.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that Governor Abiola Ajimobi's hope of becoming a senator representing Oyo South senatorial district was dashed.
The Oyo state governor whose tenure is coming to an end lost to Kola Balogun of the PDP. In the February 23 National Assembly election held in the state, Ajimobi was beaten to second by Balogun, who polled 105,720 votes.
It was gathered that the returning officer for Oyo south senatorial district, Prof. Wole Akinsola, said Ajimobi scored a total number of 92,218 to displace Senator Soji Akanbi, who polled 49,437 votes to third position.
