Breaking: Buhari declared winner of presidential poll in Sokoto with 581,552 votes

President Muhammadu Buhari has defeated his closest opponent, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), at the presidential election held in Sokoto state on Saturday, February 23. The president polled a total of 581,552 votes.

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) scored to be declared winner in Sokoto state. The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled 154,282 to clinch second position in the state.

Total No: Reg Voters: 1,802,697

Total No: of Accredited: 835,238

Total Votes Cast: 803,755

Total Valid Votes: 756,605

Rejected Votes: 47,150

It was reported that not less than 13 polling units were affected by electoral irregularities which affected 60292 voters.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the gale of defection continued to rock the PDP as four serving commissioners in Sokoto state are reportedly set to dump the party for the APC.

Senator Aliyu Wamakko, disclosed this in a statement made available by his media aide, Bashir Rabe Mani. He said the names of the defectors would be unveiled soon.

The senator also revealed that the recent defection into the party is suggestive of its wide political acceptability across the state.
