The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, defeated President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress in the presidential election in Bayelsa state.
According to the result sheet of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the former vice president scored a total of 197,933 votes, while President Buhari polled 118,821 votes.
INEC's statistics for the presidential election in the state is as follows: total votes - 321,767, rejected votes - 14,089 and the total votes cast - 335,856.
In Bayelsa state, there were vote cancellations in three local government areas, affecting 42 polling units and not less than 21,380 voters.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the deputy national publicity secretary of the APC, Yekini Nabena, had accused the Bayelsa state government of stockpiling arms in different local governments of the state ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Nabena's allegation was contained in a statement sent to Legit.ng on Tuesday, February 19. According to the APC chieftain, the alleged arms buildup could be traced particularly in Brass, Ekeremor and southern Ijaw areas of the state.
