Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has defeated President Muhammadu Buhari in the presidential election in Akwa Ibom state, according to the result announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Atiku polled 395,832 votes to defeat President Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who scored 178,429.
Total number of registered voters: 2,119,727
Total number of accredited voters: 695,677
Total votes cast: 605,140
Total valid votes: 578,775
Rejected votes: 26,365
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the PDP had taken an early lead in Imo as announcement of results continues in the state on Sunday, February 24, by INEC.
Results of the presidential and National Assembly elections are currently being collated at the INEC in Owerri.
Results from five local government areas have so far been collated with the PDP taking the lead in four council areas of Oguta, Isu, Nwangele and Ezinihite Mbaise.
