- But the Spanish goalkeeper refused to be subbed despite calls from Chelsea technical crew
Chelsea doctor Paco Biosca had to console Argentine goalkeeper Willy Caballero following Kepa Arrizabalaga's refusal to be substituted for him in the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City.
Kepa Arrizabalaga was called to be subbed before the end of the extra time at the Wembley stadium against the Citizens, but the Spaniard refused to leave the pitch.
Towards the end of the encounter, Kepa Arrizabalaga looked to be suffering from cramp which prompted Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarri to call for him to be replaced.
But to the surprise of many football fans and pundits, Kepa snubbed Maurizio Sarri and refused to be substituted.
Willy Caballero was stripped and waiting to come on the pitch when Kepa Arrizabalaga refused to be subbed at the Wembley stadium.
Chelsea went on to lose the final of the Carabao Cup on penalties against Manchester City with Kepa saving only one kick.
It has now been revealed according to UK Sun that Willy Caballero was so furious with Kepa's decision and had to be talked to by the doctor while entering the dressing room.
Chelsea now have the Europa League as the only realistic title to fight for this season following their exit in the Carabao and FA Cup.
The Premier League title will be difficult for them to lift this season considering their sixth position presently on the standings.
