Oshiomhole, Edo deputy governor deliver highest votes to APC

- The national chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole, and deputy governor, Philip Shaibu, recorded the highest votes in their units

- In Oshiomhole's unit, the PDP scored zero as reports have shown

- The unit of the wife of the deputy governor, Maryann Philip-Shaibu, also recorded 926 out of the 1,182 votes cast in favour of the ruling party

In Edo state, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, and the deputy governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu, are said to have delivered the highest number of votes for the ruling party in the just concluded election.

Legit.ng learnt that Oshiomhole recorded 775 votes in his unit 1, ward 10, Iyamho, where he hails from. In that same unit, the PDP recorded zero votes.

Vanguard reports that Shaibu’s unit 5, ward 11 also recorded 1,749 out of the 2,401 votes cast.

The report added that the unit 1, ward 11, South Ibie Road, Jattu of the wife of the deputy governor, Maryann Philip-Shaibu, recorded 926 out of the 1,182 votes cast in her.

The three voted in Etsako West with the highest voting population in Edo state after Oredo local government area.

Legit.ng had reported that the Senate leader, Ali Ndume of the All Progressives Congress (APC), emerged winner of the Southern Borno senatorial constituency election.

Ndume was declared winner on Sunday, February 24, in Biu by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) having scored the highest votes cast in the Saturday, February 23 election.

It was also reported that INEC's returning officer in Imo west senatorial district, Innocent Ibeawuchi, claimed that he was threatened by thugs to announce Governor Rochas Okorocha as winner of the senatorial poll in the district.

Ibeawuchi, who spoke with journalists in Owerri on Monday, February 25, said thugs threatened to kill him after he noticed rigging in the state and refused to continue the collation process, Vanguard reports.

He said: “A group was discussing how they will rig the election while I was gathering information.

“As I was on my way into my office three persons accosted me and asked me to hand over the materials to them. They even called their boss but I told them that I can’t."
