- Maurizio Sarri could be fired if his relationship with Chelsea stars further crashes
- The Blues result against Spurs will also play a part on his future at the Stamford Bridge
- Sarri's side are currently 6th on the log with 50 points ahead of their midweek meeting against the north Londoners
Chelsea are reportedly set to sack Maurizio Sarri should his relationship with the players continue to deteriorate.
The Italian boss replaced Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge last August in a bid to bring sanity into the club's dressing room.
His future at the club is however unsure as the Blues continue to struggle in the Premier League - sitting sixth on the log with 50 points, three behind fourth place Arsenal.
Sarri's men battle north London side Tottenham Hotspur as they hope to bounce back to winning ways after their EFL Cup defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.
The Chelsea board, according to the Telegraph, were pleased with the performance against Manchester City but are worried about Sarri’s relationship with the players and fans.
According to Express UK, the former Napoli handler might be fired if problems with the players persist.
Although, Chelsea stars showed the quality they were made off, they lost the match on penalties after 120 minutes.
Zinedine Zidane and Laurent Blanc are in line to take over from the Italian tactician on the long run but, Steve Holland is under consideration to take over on an interim basis.
Meanwhile, after his side's EFL Cup defeat on Sunday, he insisted he was happy with what he saw at Wembley against the ‘best team in Europe’.
He said: “I think if you saw the match you can understand very well that today the players played exactly the match we prepared yesterday so I think I’m fully in control of the situation.
"Now I’d like to speak about our way of football today, which was a little bit different to other matches.
"Today we decided not to press very high in every situation in which their goalkeeper was involved.
"Because they are very able to use the goalkeeper and to come out of our pressing. So we decided from every goal-kick to wait 20 metres lower than we usually did, and we conceded nothing to the best team in Europe.
"Today I’m really very happy because my feeling is that we’re improving. We could become a very solid team.
"After today we conceded nothing to Man City, which isn’t easy as they are very dangerous in the offensive phase and they usually score a lot.

"I’m happy with the performance and on the pitch I saw the performance which I prepared yesterday.”
Legit.ng earlier reported that David Luiz has given an account of what he told teammate Kepa Arrizabalaga when he refused to be substituted deep in extra time.
Maurizio Sarri and Arrizabalaga were the centre of attention in the substitution row as Manchester City beat the Blues' 4-3 on penalties to lift the EFL Cup at Wembley.
The two sides had settled for a barren draw in regular time, forcing the match into extra time.
