Ex-minister Abba Moro wins Benue South senatorial seat

Comrade Abba Moro, former minister of interior of the Peoples Democratic Party, on Tuesday, February 25, emerged winner of the Benue South senatorial district.

The Nation reports that Moro got 85,162 votes to beat his main challenger, Steven Lawani of the APC who polled 47,972 votes. The senatorial seat is currently being occupied by ex-Senate president, David Mark.

The former minister won in all the nine local government areas of the zone leaving the SDP candidate, Mike Onoja with 29,901 and APDA candidate, Alhaji Usman Abubakar (Young Alhaji) who polled 5,504.

The result was declared on Monday, February 25, in Otukpo by the INEC returning officer, Professor Aunde Anune.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the PDP has taken an early lead in the Saturday’s presidential poll results in 7 of 11 local government areas of Benue already announced.

The results, which are still being collated across the state, showed Atiku leading in Gwer West, Buruku, Logo, Agatu, Apa, Ado, and Obi LGAs.

The results also showed President Buhari trailing behind in four local government areas. The LGAs so far won by Buhari were; Tarka, Ushongo, Konshisha and Ohimini while results from 12 other LGAs were yet to be released.

Those being awaited are; Gboko, Guma, Makurdi, Katsina, Vandeikya, Otukpo, Ogbadibo, Oju, Kwande, Gwer East, Ukum and Guma LGAs.
