- But Mourinho admits Pep men played to referee into their advantage
Jose Mourinho has aimed a slight dig at Manchester City's gamesmanship after emerging Carabao Cup winner for the second consecutive time.
The ex-Manchester United boss admits that his biggest coaching rival Pep Guardiola put everything into consideration in his tactics against Chelsea as well as the referee.
He said on DAZN: "City is a team that knows everything, and when I say it knows everything, it knows how to exploit all the little things in games that only experienced teams with smart people, with many kilometers in their legs at this very high level, know how to control.
"You always go to City with situations like this, trying to get a yellow here or a yellow there in groups of players, three or four, around the referee trying to influence a decision.
"It is a team that plays football as well as it does, that this management of small details ends up being important."

Though City were stretched into extra time and penalties, they eventually won 4-3 on penalties after a 0-0 score at regulation time.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Jose Mourinho says he has never come across the kind of behaviour Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga exhibited in the Carabao Cup final.
The Spain international refused to be substituted late in extra time for Willy Caballero even when Maurizio Sarri came to the sidelines to order him off.
