According to Daily Mail, the Portuguese gaffer had told a couple of close friends through text messages he sensed that the end was near for him.

“I’m done after this” he told members of his inner circle.

However, he also defiantly added: “But I’m not quitting”.

It was not long United chief Ed Woodward ordered for his sack and replaced him with caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

And the Norwegian had made massive changes to the Red Devils' squad winning 24 points out a possible 30 in the Premier League.

Man United have now found their way in contention for a top-four finish in the league and their last defeat on the domestic scene was ironically Mourinho's last game at Anfield.
