President Buhari has said that he awaits the final declaration of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the just concluded election, following his return to Abuja.
The president returned to Abuja on Monday, February 25, following the presidential and National Assembly election which took place on Saturday, February 23.
The Nation reports that the president arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport where he was asked about how he feels about the results tricking in.
In response, he said: “I don’t want to depend on rumours, but we will rather wait for INEC to announce the results.”
On his message to Nigerians as they await the result, he said: “Well l hope that Nigerians will appreciate that it was this government which made sure that they were allowed in security and peace to cast their votes for whichever party and candidates they wanted.”
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lost Mayo-Belwa/Jada/Ganye/Toungo federal constituency to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Abdulrazak Namdas, the APC candidate in the federal constituency, polled a total of 62,374 votes to defeat his PDP opponent, Kabiru Muktar, who was only able to secure 61,436, Daily Trust reports.
