Kepa Arrizabalaga shunned by Chelsea fan after drama in EFL Cup defeat

Kepa Arrizabalaga surprised Chelsea fans after his refusal to come out for Willy Caballero during their EFL Cup defeat to Manchester City at Wembley Stadium.

The Citizens defeated the Blues 4-3 on penalties to claim their sixth Carabao Cup title having successfully defended the title they won last season.

Give Me Sport reports that the 24-year-old got his manager Maurizio Sarri angry with the behaviour he put up in the game.

Meanwhile, one of the club's fan expressed his anger by shaking hands with all other players but the goalkeeper in the dugout.

The goalkeeper took to social media to explain what transpired in the process of him being in line for substitution in the game.

At no time has it been my intention to disobey the coach or any of his intentions,” Kepa wrote.

"The coach thought I was not in a position to play on and my intention was to express that I was in good condition to continue helping the team.”

Legit.ng earlier reported that Chelsea fans have slammed goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga for his refusal to be substituted in Sunday's EFL Cup final at Wembley Stadium.

It will be recalled that the Spanish shotstopper shunned coming out for Willy Caballero after his manager Maurizio Sarri signaled for him to be removed.

He stopped Leroy Sane's penalty but was unable to keep others from finding the back of the net during penalties.
