Chelsea gaffer Maurizio Sarri has explained that Kepa Arrizabalaga's refusal to be subbed against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final was a big misunderstanding.
After 120 minutes of football at the Wembley Stadium, Chelsea and Manchester City failed to find the back of the net before the referee called for penalties.
But towards the end of the extra time, Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri ordered that goalkeeper Kepa should be subbed with Willy Caballero, but the Spaniard refused to leave the pitch.
Sarri and many Chelsea fans were angry with Kepa's decision not to be substituted against Manchester City and Maurizio Sarri has now spoken to the incident.
The former Napoli handler made it clear according to the report by Sky Sports that the 24-year-old goalie will not be punished.
''I have talked to Kepa, but only to clarify because now I have understand the situation.
"I think as I say, the goalkeeper understood that I asked for a change for his physical problem. He said, 'I haven't got a physical problem', so he was right I think,'' Sarri told Sky Sports.
Meanwhile, stat has shown why Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarri wanted Kepa to be replaced with Willy Caballero against Manchester City.
The 37-year-old Argentine goalkeeper has faced 38 spot-kicks and saved in impressive 11 of them.
Last season in the FA Cup, Willy Caballero denied David Meyler in Chelsea's 4-0 thrashing of Hull City.
He has also saved from Riyad Mahrez, Eden Hazard, Falcao, Neymar, Oscar, Youssed El Arabi, Ruben Castro, Cristiano Ronaldo , Jorge Molina and David Lopez.
