The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reportedly won the election in Makarfi/Kudan federal constituency in Kaduna state which is the constituency of the former governor of Kaduna state and ex-interim national chairman of the PDP, Ahmed Makarfi.
Daily Trust reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared that Sani Shehu Ladan of the APC got 59,495 votes to defeat Ahmed Hassan Jumare of the PDP who scored 35,126.
The newspaper states that the electoral commission therefore, declared Ladan as elected to represent Makarfi/Kudan in the House of Representatives.
The INEC also declared Salisu Ibrahim of the APC winner for Ikara/Kubau federal constituency with a total of 101,364 votes to defeat his PDP counterpart who scored 35,956.
Meanwhile, an official of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been handed over to the police for investigation and prosecution over alleged violation of electoral process, the commission’s chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, has said.
Yakubu, who made the disclosure on Sunday, February 24, at a media briefing in Abuja, said the commission will not tolerate attempts by individuals include its own staff to compromise the electoral process across Nigeria.
The INEC boss promised that the officer would be investigated and if found guilty would made to face the full wrath of the law.
