The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday afternoon, February 24, declared that the presidential and National Assembly elections are still ongoing in some areas of the country.
The commission disclosed that detail reports of such areas will be communicated at a briefing coming up at national collation center, Abuja.
In a statement through its official Twitter handle, the electoral body, however, urged the members of the public to disregard some election results circulating on the various social media platforms.
The statement read: ''Elections are still ongoing in some areas of the Country; however detailed reports of such areas will be communicated at a briefing coming up by 3pm today at the National Collation Center, Abuja
''It has also come to our notice that some election "results" are circulating on the various social media platforms, Kindly disregard such "results" as only INEC is constitutionally empowered to declare the outcome of the elections.''

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that news just filtering in indicates that elections commenced in four polling units in Plateau following the postponement of Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections in the state.
Osaretin Imahireogbo, head, voter education and publicity of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state confirmed on Sunday, February 24 in Jos, the state capital.
Elections were postponed in two polling units in Attakar, one in Zawan B Ward, and another in Dadin-Kowa, in Riyom and Jos south local government areas, respectively.
The delays were due to late arrival of electoral officials and materials. Election was suspended at the FDA polling unit of Dadin-Kowa ward of Jos South LGA due to some skirmishes.
