Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has penned an emotional tribute to former Charlton Athletic keeper Jordan Dawes, who died after battling liver cancer earlier this week.
The 18-year-old was diagnosed of the life threatening illness shortly after suffering a stroke in November 2018.
De Gea, while expressing himself through his social media said that: "Rest in peace, Jordan. I'm sure that you will keep on making saves up in heaven."
The former Atletico Madrid man was said to have sent a pair of gloves to the teenager when when she was newly diagnosed of the sickness.
With the inscription which says: "I'm sending you all my love, support and strength while you recover. I know you can win this battle!! Stay strong."
Meanwhile, her family put out a statement after her death was confirmed saying: "We are heartbroken beyond heartbroken,' read a family statement.
"She had so much life to live. Never stop loving and hugging your beautiful children as it's a cruel world out there."

Daily Mail also reports that Manchester United Women manager Casey Stoney added: "My thoughts and love are with Jordan’s family & friends.
"The world and women’s football has lost an incredible young woman & an inspiration to so many, especially me."
De Gea is expected within the sticks when Man United welcome Liverpool to Old Trafford in match which will determine if they will remain in the top four position after this weekend.
The Red Devils are currently fourth on the table with 50 points - just one more than Chelsea and Arsenal.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has told the club the only condition that will make him sign a new contract.
The 28-year-old's current contract will expire at the end of this season, but the Spaniard is willing to extend his stay at Old Trafford only if he gets at least £300k-a-week deal.
De Gea was highly impressive for the Red Devils in their 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in Sunday's Premier League tough clash at Wembley Stadium.
