Dogara wins unit for Atiku, Lagos deputy governor wins unit for Buhari

The speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has won his polling unit in Bauchi state for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in the Saturday, February 23 election.

Speaker Dogara voted at Central Primary School, Gwarangah in Bogoro, Dass, Tafawa Balewa local government area, The Nation reports. gathers that Atiku polled a total of 285 votes at Dogara's unit 007A, while President Muhammadu Buhari got 15 votes. Nineteen votes at the polling unit were declared invalid.

At polling unit 007B, PDP had 265 votes, while APC polled only 16 votes. Eighteen votes were declared invalid.

PDP got 290 votes at the third polling unit - also at Dogara's village - while APC polled 09 votes.

Meanwhile, deputy governor of Lagos state, Idiat Adebule, delivered her poling unit in Lagos to President Muhammadu Buhari, Senator Olamilekan Solomon and Yinka Durosinmi.

At the polling unit 029 Devince Iba, President Buhari had 129 votes, while Atiku got 124 votes. For Senate, APC polled 128 votes, while PDP had 119 votes.

For the House of Representatives, APC had 131 votes, while PDP got 123 votes.

Shortly after the INEC Presiding Officer announced the results, an APC member simply identified as Akeem said: “The Deputy Governor has shown why she is an APC leader in our area. She has consistently been delivering her unit to our party. She ensured that party members are being given sense of belonging by addressing their complaint."

A resident, Yemisi Salau, said: “We are proud of her. She has represented us in the government as former Secretary to the Lagos State Government and now as Deputy Governor.

“We can only show our appreciation to her by ensuring that her party, APC wins and that was what we did."

The elections, which were held at St Gabriel School in Moore ward in Ife East, were in favour of President Buhari and the National Assembly candidates of the All Progressives Congress.
