Jonathan, wife cast their votes at polling unit in Otuoke

Former president Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience, have cast their votes in the presidential and National Assembly elections in his home town, Otuoke in Bayelsa state.

When asked if he thinks President Muhammadu Buhari will concede defeat, the former president said he cannot speak for another person.

Jonathan who shared photos on his Facebook page advised that anyone who loses an election should accept defeat.

He said: "If you lose elections accept it, if you think you are good enough and you're interested you can come back. It has happened in other countries. That is the essence of democracy."

According to him, if Africans can't go the moon, they should be able to elect leaders in way that the world would accept it.

"I'm not actually proud of the environment we are conducting elections. I believe that after this time, some of us who have been involved in conducting elections in other parts of the continent, would be able to sit down with INEC and design a better environment than this chaotic one I have seen today," he added.

Meanwhile, President Buhari and his wife, Aisha, voted in Daura, Katsina state. The wife, Aisha, voted before the president at 8.06 a.m., while the president voted at 8.10 a.m. at the Kofar Baru, Sarkin Yara “A” ward in Daura.

Asked if he will hand over power to the winner if he loses, President Buhari said: "I will congratulate myself because I am going to win." ( -> We keep evolving to serve our readers better.
