- Lionel Messi might miss Barcelona's trip to Sevilla for their La Liga clash on Saturday
- The 31-year-old could be rested for their double header against Real Madrid next week
- Barca remain atop of the log and could drop points if they continue to under-perform like they did against Lyon during the week
Barcelona captain Lionel Messi is reportedly doubtful for Barcelona's La Liga clash against Sevilla this weekend.
The Catalans are currently atop of the Spanish league table with seven points better than second placed Atletico Madrid.
However, they face arch rivals Real Madrid twice in four days next week which might force coach Ernesto Valverde to rest some of his key players ahead of the two matches.
It will be recalled that both Barca and Madrid played 1-1 in the first leg of the Copa Del Rey semifinal earlier this month.
And the outcome of the second leg will determine which of them progress to the final, the the Blaugrana are the defending champions.
Accord to Express.co.uk, both Messi and Luis Suarez might be involved in this evening's meeting but unlikely to complete the 90 minutes.

Ivan Rakitic and Ousmane Dembele could be given a rest before the derby, with Philippe Coutinho and Carlos Alena replacing them.
Meanwhile, the coach has backed his under-performing squad after their goalless draw against Lyon in midweek's Champions League round of 16 encounter.
"Luis Suarez guarantees us chances in every game. It's difficult to do without him," said Valverde.
"Everything is always focused around the big names at certain times.
“In the case of Luis, it is curious because this same focus has been placed on him before and he has answered by scoring many goals. In the last two games he has had clear chances to score."
Legit.ng earlier reported that Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas aimed a dig at Lionel Messi ahead of their Champions League clash against Barcelona at Groupama Stadium.
The 70-year-old football administrator claims the Argentine does not always get motivated against his side.
Coach Valverde's men extended their lead on the Spanish league table following their slim victory against Real Valladolid over the weekend after three consecutive draws in all competitions.
