The Senator representing Adamawa central senatorial district on Thursday, February 21, received a royal blessing from the Hama Bachama, Honest Irmiya Stephen, to run for the 2019 gubernatorial election in the state.
Abdulaziz Nyako who is contesting for governorship under the African Democratic Congress platform received the blessing while paying homage to the Emir at his palace in Numam.
Nyako said the visit was to notify the Emir of his intention to run for the number one seat in the state under ADC ticket.
Stating that insecurity, extreme poverty and hunger, drug abuse, kidnapping and rape were among reasons he is vying for the governorship election, Nyako said such vices are on the increase across the 21 local government areas he visited.
According to him, if nothing is done immediately to salvage the situation Adamawa state would be unsafe for the people.
The senator also cited eight local government areas under drugs ,extreme poverty and hunger and lack of water such as Numam, Lamurde, Shelling, Song, Girei, Guyuk Gombi and Maiha while abuse of under age girls are on the rise in Hong local government area of the state.
He added that Mubi North and Mubi south are facing growing cases of kidnapping while dangerous weapons are been used by Shilla boys to rob people of their belongings at day and night in Jimeta
Assuring the traditional ruler of his willingness to rescue the state from such delinquent emanating from the youths, Nyako said all hands must be on deck to end criminal vices in the state.
In his response, the Emir said he is giving him his blessing to succeed as he was a hand working and a committed man right from his military career.
The Emir added that he believes the senator would use his experience to address all the menace in the state.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the Nigeria Police has replaced the commissioner of police in Adamawa state, Muhammad Mukaddas, with Audu Madaki, ahead of the forthcoming 2019 general elections.
Mukaddas was replaced with the new commissioner on Wednesday, February 20, Premium Times reports.
Legit.ng gathers that the police have not issued an official statement about the reshuffling, but both police chiefs affected have confirmed the changes.

Reports has it that Mukaddas will be supervising election election security in Imo state during the 2019 general elections.
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, is from Adamawa, a state considered as a battleground in the presidential election by political analysts.
