The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Abia North senatorial zone, Orji Uzor Kalu, has said his popularity and goodwill will give him victory at the National Assembly election slated for Saturday, February 23.
The former governor of Abia state made the assertion while addressing his supporters in his country home of Igbere, Vanguard reports.
Legit.ng gathers that Kalu said any attempt by anybody to rig the forthcoming elections would be resisted by the people of the zone.
He said: “My goodwill in Abia will give me victory in a free, fair and credible poll. I am not afraid of election because of my popularity.
“My antecedents and accomplishments in all spheres of life will continue to speak for me. I have paid my dues in business, politics and philanthropy.
“My desire to represent the people of Abia North in the red chamber is borne out of my passion for community service and good governance. During my stint as governor of Abia, I offered free education and free healthcare.
“Salaries and pensions were paid on or before 25th of every month. I understand the challenges of our people and I have the right contacts and political sagacity to take our communities to the Next Level."
“We must remain vigilant to frustrate any plan by anyone to thump-print ballot papers and fill result sheets before the poll."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Nigeria's challenges were the scathing criticisms of President Muhammadu Buhari's administration by people that were reckless and lawless when they were in power.
According to Kalu, in spite of the vitriolic attacks against the president, he deserves a second term in office to complete his good projects for Nigeria.
The former governor spoke during his visit to the palace of Alake and paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, on Tuesday, April 3, 2018.
Kalu's comments came barely 24 hours after ex-president, Olusegun Obasanjo, criticised Buhari-led government for allegedly being ineffective, incompetent and reeking of failure.
