Atletico Madrid boss, Diego Simeone, has been forced to explain his bizarre celebration during his side's 2-0 crucial victory against Juventus in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16.
Both sides finished the first half 0-0, with Juventus missing a couple of goal-scoring chances having largely dominated proceedings.
Alvaro Morata nearly broke the deadlock in the second half, but his goal was disallowed after a review by VAR.
The hosts nonetheless went on to grab the opener minutes later through Jose Maria Gimenez who slammed the ball home after Juventus' defensive lapse.
Gimenez's opener saw Simeone turned to the stands and grab his crotch in an unusual goal celebration.
Upon getting a substantial handful, the Argentine tactician gave it all a shake for good measure.
The reaction elicited divided opinion among fans on social media, with some openly expressing their administration for the celebration.
On his part, Simeone acknowledge it was not a nice stunt, but asserted he was overwhelmed.
"I did it as a player in Lazio-Bologna and I did it again to show our fans that we have cojones. It wasn’t aimed at the other team, I was turning towards our own supporters," Simeone was quoted saying.
"It was such a tough game, we fought so hard and Diego Costa worked really hard when he wasn’t 100 per cent fit. I had to show what I was feeling," he added.
Diego Godin doubled the hosts lead with just seven minutes to stoppage time go dampen Juve's hopes of booking a slot in the last eight.
