Maduka Okoye, Fortuna Dusseldorf chooses to play for Nigeria over Germany

Fortuna Dusseldorf goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has reportedly announced his interests to represent Nigeria at the senior level.

The Super Eagles currently parades Francis Uzoho, Daniel Akpeyi and Ikechukwu Ezenwa as top three shot-stoppers at the moment.

With the country's number recently sealing a loan move to Cyprus topflight side Anorthosis Famagusta earlier this year.

Footballlive.ng quoting Nigerian-born Germany based sports journalist Oma Akatugba reports that the 19-year-old is ready to commit his international future to his father’s country.

The publication further revealed that the goalkeeper has been in the news since last October over his decision to switch his allegiance to his fatherland.

Meanwhile, former Eagles striker now national team scout Victor Agali is said to have paid the youngster a visit at his club, but nothing has been heard about him since.

Okoye joined his present club in the summer of 2018 and his deal with the club will expire at the end of the current season.

The 19-year-old can represent either Nigeria or Germany at the senior level, depending on his choice at the end of the day.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Super Eagles media officer Toyin Ibitoye has revealed four players of Nigerian descent who are favourably disposed to the country as the West African nation get ready to face the Mediterranean Knights of Libya in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match.

Speaking exclusively to Legit.ng in an interview, Ibitoye said players of dual nationality are beginning to show interest in playing for the Super Eagles because things are being done the right way in the country.

Sheyi Ojo, Ovie Ejiara, Ademola Lookman and Danjuma are the prospects who are likely to join the Eagles family soon.
