LIVE: Atletico Madrid vs Juventus

Atletico Madrid take a 2-0 advantage into the second leg with goals from two of their Uruguayan defenders Jose Gimenez and Diego Godin.

The Bianconeri dominated the first half but could not make their chance count and the match had series of controversial calls.

Diego Costa seemed to have been fouled inside the 18-yard box but a free kick was given after the referee consulted the VAR.

Alvaro Morata's second half header was also ruled out by the referee but this time, he was adjudged to have pushed Giorgio Chiellini before heading home the ball.

But Rojiblancos came back stronger with two goals in five minutes in the 78th and 83rd minutes to leave Juventus perplexed.

It is now a mounted to climb for Max Allegri's side going into the second leg at the Allianz Stadium.

Griezman nearly steals a poor pass from Bentacur to Chiellini but the defender recovers. At the other end Mandzukic tries to create space for a shot but could not quite.

Koke backheels down the right with the hope of finding Griezmann but the ball takes a little deflection away from the striker that allows Szczesny to snaffle.

Ronaldo locate Sandro on the left who crosses to Mandzukic but his header did not threaten Oblak as the ball goes over.

Koke finds Diego Costa from the left, as he pushes the ball forward De Sciglio seems to have clipped Costa’s heel. Costa tumbles in the area as the referee points to the spot.

But then it’s overturned by VAR, with the initial contact having been made outside the box and a free kick is awarded.

After much argument, Griezmann leans over and takes the free kick and a couple of steps from Szczesny as he sends the ball out of the frame.
