Reports emerging from TVC claims that one person has been killed while several injured and many vehicles destroyed by suspected hoodlums during the Senatorial campaign of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara state.
Television Continental (TVC) reports that the campaign turned violent in Ojoku, Kwara state, as both APC and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) trade blames.
While the APC blames the attack on the PDP but the PDP dismissed the claims, saying the attackers were APC members and not theirs.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that President Muhammadu Buhari met with Nigeria’s security chiefs on Tuesday, February 19.
Briefing newsmen after the closed-door meeting, the security chiefs said they will not allow the forthcoming elections in the country to be disrupted.
Members of the council include; the national security adviser, Babagana Monguno; minister of defence, Mansur Dan- Ali; the chief of defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin; Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai and Chief of Naval Staff; Rear Admiral Ibok Ekwe Ibas.
Others are Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Abubakar Sadique; director-general of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Abubakar; acting inspector general of police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu and the director general of Department for State Service (DSS), Yusuf Magaji Bichi.
Speaking on behalf of the security chiefs, acting IGP Adamu said, following the postponement of the 2019 elections, they had resolved to further provide adequate security within the country.

He said:“Today, members of the security community and intelligence community came and briefed Mr President on the security situation in the country. We deliberated on the consequences and came up with the resolve to further provide adequate security within the country so that the electorate will come out and cast their votes without any fear of molestation.
“Every Nigerian is encouraged to come out on the election day and cast his or her vote without any fear of molestation. The security personnel are ready and prepared to protect everybody. Anybody that feels that he can come out and disrupt the process should have a rethink because that situation will not be allowed. If you plan and allow yourself to be used as touts, whatever happens to you, you will take it."
