Breaking: Gunmen kill APC chairman of Benue LGA

- Unknown gunmen have killed the chairman of the APC in Ohimini local government area of Benue state

- The chairman, Boniface Okloho, was killed while returning from a party function

- Benue APC governorship candidate, Emmanuel Jime, has condemned the killing

Unknown gunmen over the weekend assassinated Boniface Okloho, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ohimini local government area of Benue state, while he was returning from a party function.

Police spokesperson in the state, Moses Yamu, confirmed the killing and said investigation into the murder has started.

The Nation reports that the APC governorship candidate, Emmanuel Jime, also confirmed the killing and called for security operatives to get justice for Okloho.

Jime said: “I condemn in very strong terms, this unnecessary politics of violence and bloodshed that has claimed the life of Mr. Okloho, our beloved brother and staunch member of our great party in Ohimini.

“Okloho was one of the committed leaders of our party in Zone C. We regret that he lost his life in such a horrible circumstance, in the service of his state and his party. May his gentle soul rest in peace."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that the chairman of the APC in Demsa local government area, Adamawa state, Hamisu Mijinyawa, was reportedly kidnapped.

The party chieftain was said to have been abducted by around 1am on Wednesday, January 30, at his residence ahead of the flag-off of the presidential/governorship campaign in Demsa local government area of the state.

In the same vein, the chairman of the APC in Abia state, Chief Donatus Nwankpa, was abducted by suspected kidnappers.
