President Muhammadu Buhari has been called upon to rescue Leah Sharibu from Boko Haram captivity
- The call was made by a human rights activist, Ikeazor Akaraiwe, who appealed to the president to also rescue other captives
- Akaraiwe says Buhari should let Nigerians know if Sharibu is dead so the people may mourn her
A human rights activist, Ikeazor Akaraiwe, has written an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari over continued incarceration of a student of Government Girls Science and Technical Secondary School, Dapchi, Yobe state, Leah Sharibu, and others in Boko Haram captivity.
Vanguard reports that Akaraiwe pleaded with President Buhari not to allow the lone Christian captive to further remain in captivity.
Legit.ng notes that on Tuesday, Februrary 19, it will be exactly one year since Sharibu was abducted by Boko Haram.
In a letter titled Leah (Liya) Sharibu, and dated February 6, 2019, the human rights activist said: “I am forced by conscience to bring to your attention many forgotten girl citizens abducted by terror-ists, one of them in particular, Miss Leah (Liya) Sharibu.
“Many were abducted before her, with her and after her, but what makes her case pathetic is that all her schoolmates abducted together with her were released one month after the abduction, except for her.
“Mr. President, you swore to uphold our Constitution. Mr. President, give a 100 men in exchange for her life if need be but do not allow her remain in captivity. And if she is dead, do let us know, so we may mourn her.”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has declared a spiritual war on kidnappers.
Pastor Adeboye expressed worry over continued incarceration of the Dapchi schoolgirl, Leah Sharibu and the remaining Chibok girls.
Sharibu was abducted from Government Girls Science and Technical Secondary School in Dapchi, Yobe state, on February 19, 2018, by Boko Haram.
Pastor Adeboye said: “Let us come against the activities of kidnappers, ritualists and cultists in Jesus’ name. Father expose them and all their collaborators in all their hideouts in our nation.
