Election 2019: Senator Andy Uba not arrested by DSS - Aide

Media reports suggesting Senator Andy Uba was recently arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) has been debunked.

The reports had suggested the All Progressives Congress (APC) senator was arrested on allegations of money laundering.

A statement sent to Legit.ng on Saturday, February 16 by the senator's media office, described the reports as mischievous and malicious propaganda.

The statement noted that Senator Uba, who is the Anambra state coordinator of the Buhari Campaign Organisation just rounded up his campaign tour for his re-election as the senator representing Anambra South senatorial district.

It further noted that the APC senator is busy actively mobilizing the electorates for the February 23 election.

“Senator Uba urges the general public to disregard any fake news of his arrest and re-dedicate themselves to the task of taking Anambra South to the Next Level on Saturday,” the statement concluded.

Senator Uba's quest to return to the Nigerian Senate recently gotten a major boost ahead of the 2019 general election.

Nnewi north local government area and its stakeholders on Wednesday, February 6, endorsed Uba's re-election bid.

The event which started with a close door meeting with Chief Chukwuma Innocent Ifeadiaso, the Managing Director of Innoson Motors at his residence in Nnewi, was later opened to the general public.
