Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state has responded to the recent murder of one of his special assistants, Lawrence Ngozi Akpomiemie.
In strong terms, Okowa, through his chief press secretary, Charles Aniagwu, decried the killing of Akpomiemie which took place in the night of Friday, February 15.
The governor expressed deep regret over the tragic development; he said: “On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I mourn the death of Lawrence Ngozi Ijei, who was my aide until his untimely demise.
"I condole with his wife and family and urge security agencies to investigate the unfortunate incident with a view to bringing the perpetrators to justice.
“We have alerted the security agencies of some disturbing security situation in parts of the state and wonder what they are doing because this information has been available to them.
“We urge Deltans to remain peaceful and maintain the existing peace we have built in the last three and half years.”

Okowa made a clarion call to security agencies to investigate the murder and provide the identities of Akpomiemie's murderers and arrest them.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Akpomiemie was shot dead by unknown gunmen. He was murdered in a feat of violence that was triggered somewhere around Ekpan, in the Uvwie local council area of the state in the night of Friday, February 15.
Akpomiemie, before his death, worked as the special adviser to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on youth development.
