Solskjaer tips Gomes and Chong to play against Chelsea and Liverpool

- Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has disclosed that Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong could play against Chelsea on Monday night

- Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial suffered injuries against PSG and will be out for three weeks

- Gomes and Chong are also expected to face Liverpool next weekend after Chelsea on Monday night

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed the pair of Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong are likely to step in for Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard.

According to Metro, Man United are keen to return to winning ways after Tuesday’s defeat by PSG in the Champions League, with a dicey fixture against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Monday night before welcoming rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford at the weekend.

But the duo of Martial and Lingard will be missing for three weeks with muscle injury at a time Solskjaer needs his star players most.

Reacting on the possibility of Gomes and Chong being part of United’s team to battle at Chelsea, Solskjaer, who is yet to lose a game in the domestic scene since replacing Jose Mourinho mid- December remains positive.

Yeah, maybe. ‘We’ve got still forward options but Angel and Chongy have been training with us all week, so there’s a big chance they’ll be involved.

“It’s a chance for anyone who plays, Alexis [Sanchez], Romelu [Lukaku], Chongy or Angel.

“Anthony and Jesse have done really well for us, they’re vital but then again with Rom and Alexis, they’ve got different skill sets and will be able to show what they can do.

“So we need to gel a team together for Monday,” he stressed.

Solskjaer also found time to urge his players to forget the defeat to PSG and move on.

“I’ve been back home actually,” he hinted.

“That was always the plan. Been to Norway, nice to see the family but [losing] is a different feel, of course. I hate losing games, the boys hate it, they’ve been down but there’s no point dwelling on it, there are big games and good teams coming up and we need to dust ourselves down.

“You’ve got to bounce back at this club, always have challenges and away against Chelsea is tough. Let’s make sure the next two days in training we’re ready on Monday.

“We know there was a spell against PSG, seven, eight 10 minutes, we lost our way. Apart from that we weren’t too bad.

“Great week [ahead]. You don’t panic because you’ve lost a game, you don’t change everything, doesn’t change the mindset at all, we need to keep working on the way we play football,” Solskjaer summed up.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Man United pair Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial have suffered injuries and will be out of action for the next three weeks.

These two players suffered the injuries in Manchester United's shocking 2-0 Champions League home defeat against French club Paris-Saint-Germain.
