Tottenham star Jan Vertonghen has been named player of the week by UEFA after his impressive performance in his club's Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund.
The 31-year-old Belgian football star scored one goal against the German team and also provided an assist in Tottenham's 3-0 win in the Champions League first leg of round of 16.
Spurs have now given themselves a great advantage to qualify for the quarterfinal stage of the 2018/19 Champions League as Dortmund will need to beat them 4-0 to progress.
UEFA took to their official social media handle to announce Jan Vertonghen as the player of the week.
Having played regularly as a center-back since arriving at Spurs, Vertonghen moved across from his usual position to fill in for Ben Davies and Danny Rose at left-back and overcame.
Jan Vertonghen's performance against Dortmund also received lots of appreciation from his teammates and the technical crew.
Meanwhile, Tottenham are also doing well in the Premier League as they are currently occupying third position on the standings with 60 points after 26 games.
They are five points behind current leaders Manchester City who have played 27 games this season.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Tottenham vs Dortmund ended in a 3-0 scoreline in favor of the Premier League side as all three goals were scored in the second half.
The first half experienced a goal-drought as the London club created the better chances against their German counterparts.
